Well, it has been over a year and I am finally making another
update. You may notice on this update that a number of
obituaries have been added. I would like to thank Reva (Williamson) Rowland for contributing several
of these that her mother had clipped from the newspapers. Also
thanks to Avis Rader for the contribution of photos of the Dillon
family. Brad Weekley also is always on the lookout for any
items that we can use here. It is only through the efforts of kind
folks like this that I am able to add anything new to the site.

UPDATE FEBRUARY
2004
On this update I have totally revised the Church
section and added quite a bit of material. Numerous obituaries
have been added; some old and unfortunately some new. Several new
photos also have been added to the Family Album and Wilbur Scenes. Also,
an article has been added to Recollections. I
would like to thank the contributors who have made this update possible:
Gloria (Keys) Murphy, Avis Rader, Reva Rowland, Brad Weekley,
Anna
(Weekley) Griffin, and finally Kendra (Cottrill) Wyke who has been
actively seeking material to use on the site, and some of which I am
working on for use in a future update. You are making the site
more useful and enjoyable for all. Thank you again.

| UPDATE
6 June 2004 Thanks for this update go to
Jeff Mercer and his mother Ruth. They have
contributed numerous photos of the Mercer and McKinney families and
moreover, two family obituaries. Also, Jeff included
some photos of Kersey and Boreman in the store, which certainly made
my day and brought back many memories. I hope that you enjoy
these photos as much as I have.
You may notice that I have broken the Family Album
page up into three sections. I did this to make the pages load
a little faster. They are in chronological order.
Watch for another update in the near future.

| UPDATE
MARCH 22, 2005 This update includes
several new photographs and additions to the "Recollections" area.
I would like to thank David Hall and his mother Winona
Pratt Hall for contributing several new photos of the
Pratt and Carney families. Brad Weekley also donated
several photos. Thanks to Edwina Bailey for the
"Recollection" items about Harmon McKinney's columns in the
Star News. Thanks.

| UPDATE
MARCH 26, 2006 It has been a year since
the last update, but with this one we have added several new
items. First, I would like to thank Mary Jane (Pratt)
Borer for her contribution of several photos of the Pratt
family of Camp, WV, several obituaries, and the only photos that
I have ever seen of the Morning Star School, where her father
was a teacher.
Thanks to Mrs. Ruth (McKinney Mercer) Lemasters for her permission to use " A Life's Worth of
Memories" written by Laverne Mercer. This is a
facinating first person account of life around Wilbur in the
1920's and 1930's. If you look at nothing else, read this!
Thanks also to Leo Williams for the photo of
the 1939 Wilbur Softball Team. This was a little before my
time, and I admit I did not know about it. I knew several
people in the photo and it brought back memories.
We are still soliciting photos, news
clippings, obituaries, or any other items that are related to
Wilbur. There are still many families that are not represented
in the "Albums" and I know that there has to be photos out
there. If you have items of interest or know of someone
who does, please think about contributing. Again, thanks
to all the contributors who make the site worthwhile.

| UPDATE January
31, 2007
I am able to make a significant update due
to the generosity of Paula (Weekley) Miller and
Frances (Ash)Hurst.
Paula contributed several photos of the
Weekley and Britton families, Mary Keys and Verna Ash, Jim
Haught, Frank Dillon, Kenneth Booher, and a photo and a
facinating story about a plane that landed in a field near Camp.
Frances contributed photos of Johathan and
Almeda Mercer, Dan Gatrell, Kersey Doak, and Susan and Tom
Haught.
Also, I would like to thank Marie Mercer
for the photo of her father, Roger, in the 1930's or 40's.
We have now included several more families who
were not represented in the Album sections. Thank you all
for making the site more interesting and useful for all.

UPDATE
28 April 2008
Well, looks like it has been well over a year
since the last update. Fortunately, we still have people
looking for and submitting items to keep things interesting.
For this update Kendra Wyke has brought us a dozen new photos
(in Albums 2, 3 and 4) including several people who had not been
included until now, and an obituary for Mrs. Ferrebee who lived to
be 100 years old.
David Hall has come up with a
fascinating firsthand account, by Pete Pratt, of daily life in Wilbur in days
when a trip from Wilbur to West Union could take a couple of days!
DON'T MISS THIS.
Bob Riggs has donated a copy of a message
to the members of the Wilbur Chapel Church from Reverend F.G.
Radabaugh on New Years Day of 1903. Look for it under 'Churches' --
'Wilbur Chapel.'
As always, we thank our contributors and ask anyone who has
items that might be of interest to think about sharing them.

UPDATE
4 July 2009
Well, it seems that about once a year is my schedule for updates.
I am just thankful that there are people who still search for and
contribute items for the site. This has allowed it to expand beyond my
wildest expectations. I give a heartfelt thanks to all who have
helped it happen.
This year I need to thank Frances
Hurst for her patience in getting me the Patent (link on
"Recollections") for what I think is probably the only patent to be
issued to a Wilbur resident. Check it out...
Brad Weekley has also come up with
numerous photos and a couple of obits that were added this on this
update.
Again Kendra Wyke has gone out of
her way to find and submit several photos of past Wilbur residents who
were not represented on these pages. She also submitted the
newspaper article on the tragic death of a young lady from the
community. See the "Recollections" page for a link to the article.
Thanks Kendra for all you do.
Again, we ask anyone who has
items that might be of interest to think about sharing them. Photos,
articles or stories that you know or have heard about people in the
community are always welcome.
